Towards 10,000 Transjakarta Electric Buses by 2030, KALISTA and INVI Collaborate with Three Operators to Accelerate Electrification
Press Release
Jakarta, May 20, 2026 – PT Kalista Nusa Armada (KALISTA Group), together with PT Energi Makmur Buana (INVI), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with three Transjakarta operators — PT Biro Perjalanan Wisata Pahala Kencana (Pahala Kencana), PT Bayuholong Persada (Bayu Holong), and Koperasi Jasa Angkutan Arief Rachman Hakim (Kopang ARH) — at Busworld Southeast Asia 2026. The collaboration aims to strengthen commitment toward accelerating electric bus implementation and supporting the full electrification target of more than 10,000 Transjakarta fleets by 2030 through a fleet-as-a-service (FaaS) approach and a by-the-service (BTS) operational model.
This collaboration brings together the capabilities of each party, with KALISTA serving as an integrated commercial electric vehicle ecosystem solution provider, INVI as a commercial electric vehicle fleet provider, and the three Transjakarta operators as transport operators. The collaborative model is designed to help address key challenges in implementing electric vehicles in the public transportation sector, ranging from high upfront investment requirements and charging infrastructure development to long-term fleet operational sustainability.
The partnership was officially signed by Yoga Adiwinarto, Business Development Director of KALISTA Group; Alif Sasetyo, President Director of INVI; Sandy Rizal Tedjokusumo, Director of Pahala Kencana; Bayu Holong Parsada, President Director of Bayu Holong; and Dewi Maria Saragih, Chairwoman of Kopang ARH. The initiative is expected to become an implementation model that can accelerate electric bus adoption in public transportation systems across various cities in Indonesia.
The collaboration was also highlighted during a talk show session titled “Synergy to Realize 100% Electric-Based Public Transportation” at Busworld Southeast Asia 2026, which discussed the urgency of accelerating public transportation electrification amid rising energy efficiency demands and national decarbonization targets.
Accelerating public transportation electrification requires strategic synergy among stakeholders to address key challenges. Therefore, this collaboration is designed to overcome barriers to EV adoption in the public transportation sector, enabling the electrification process to move forward more quickly.
“The main challenge for operators lies in the high upfront investment and infrastructure development requirements. This is why stakeholder synergy is crucial, especially as public transportation electrification in Indonesia continues to grow. Transjakarta, for example, is targeting 100% electrification by 2030 with more than 10,000 fleets,” said Yoga Adiwinarto, Business Development Director of KALISTA Group.
“This is where KALISTA plays a role as an enabler to accelerate and simplify EV adoption for operators. Instead of requiring operators to make significant upfront investments, this service model enables the transition to electric fleets with lower risks through an operating lease scheme and more comprehensive ecosystem support, ranging from vehicle selection, charging infrastructure installation, periodic maintenance, to operational support. To date, KALISTA operates 26 electric buses in Transjakarta with positive results after more than two years of operations, including up to 75% energy cost efficiency and 28% emission reductions compared to conventional buses,” Yoga added.
In its implementation, KALISTA also integrates all fleets with the KALISTA Fleet Management System (FMS), K-Move Dashboard, enabling real-time operational monitoring and comprehensive visibility into vehicle usage patterns.
From the vehicle provider side, to ensure Transjakarta’s unit specifications are fully met, INVI conducted trials using HIGER high-deck bus models in 12-meter and 7.5-meter variants for three months in two phases. The first phase was conducted without passengers to test technical aspects such as GPS, announcer systems, and running text displays, followed by operational testing on Corridor 6B with the Ragunan – City Hall route. Operational trial results for the 12-meter unit showed positive performance with 0.8 km/kWh efficiency, while the 7.5-meter unit is still undergoing testing.
“For INVI, collaboration is extremely crucial in creating efficient and effective public transportation services. We understand that public transportation plays a vital role in Jakarta’s mobility. Therefore, as an integrated distributor, we continuously strive to minimize potential breakdowns through maintenance SLA implementation, certified mechanics with HIGER standards, spare parts availability, and HSE standard implementation to ensure daily operations remain optimal,” said Alif Sasetyo, President Director of INVI.
In addition to supporting Indonesia’s Net Zero Emission 2060 target, accelerating public transportation electrification is becoming increasingly strategic amid global energy dynamics and the need to strengthen national energy resilience by reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
Through this collaborative model connecting ecosystem providers, fleet providers, and operators, all parties hope the implementation of electric buses can progress faster and more measurably, while delivering tangible benefits to the public through a more efficient, modern, and sustainable transportation system that supports Transjakarta’s 100% electrification target by 2030.
