KALISTA Encourages Governement & Private Collaboration to Accelerate Electric Public Transportation Through “Bincang Bus Listrik Medan #BerbagiUntukSemua”
Press Release
Medan, March 9, 2026 — Accelerating the transformation of public transportation toward a cleaner and more sustainable system requires close collaboration between the government, private sector, transport operators, and the public. To strengthen this synergy, KALISTA organized a dialogue forum titled “Bincang Bus Listrik Medan #BerbagiUntukSemua”, bringing together various stakeholders to share experiences and lessons learned from the implementation of electric buses within Medan’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system.
The event served as a moment of reflection on one year of operating Medan’s electric bus-based BRT system, which has demonstrated tangible impacts on the city’s urban transportation system. Throughout January to December 2025, the electric bus fleet operating within Medan BRT traveled more than 3,900,000 kilometers, served over 2,700,000 passengers, and contributed to a 28% reduction in emissions compared to conventional public transportation.
The Bincang Bus Listrik Medan forum provided an open discussion platform for stakeholders to evaluate operational performance while identifying challenges and opportunities for the future development of electric public transportation in Medan.
Albert Aulia Ilyas, President Director of KALISTA, explained that the forum reflects the company’s commitment to building a collaborative and sustainable electric vehicle ecosystem. “The transition toward electric public transportation is not only about vehicle technology, but also about building an ecosystem that involves multiple stakeholders. Through this forum, we aim to create a dialogue space between government, operators, industry players, and the public to share experiences and lessons learned from the implementation of electric buses in Medan,” said Albert.
The #BerbagiUntukSemua event series featured presentations on electric bus operational performance, a “Bincang Bus Listrik” discussion session, and a two-way discussion forum between stakeholders and Medan BRT electric bus passengers. The event targeted participation from parties involved in the development of Medan BRT services, including local governments, transportation operators, industry players, communities, and public transportation users.
The talk show carried the theme “100% Electric Transportation, Real Impact for Everyone”, focusing on several key topics, including:
- Synergy between the government and private sector in implementing Medan Electric Bus BRT services
- Operational experiences since the launch of the service, including how the electric bus fleet remained operational during three consecutive days of flooding through rapid coordination between operators, technical teams, and related parties without experiencing damage
- The active role, feedback, and expectations of Medan residents in improving the quality of Medan Electric Bus BRT services
Acting Head of the Medan Transportation Agency, Suriono, S.SiT., MT, emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration in delivering a modern and environmentally friendly public transportation system. “The development of sustainable public transportation requires support from various stakeholders. Collaboration between the government, transportation operators, and the private sector is key to ensuring that Medan Electric Bus BRT services continue to grow and provide tangible benefits to the public,” said Suriono.
He added that public participation through feedback and user experiences plays an important role in improving the quality of public transportation services in Medan moving forward.
Through this forum, all parties involved in Medan’s electric bus implementation also shared their operational experiences over the past year, including various lessons learned and challenges that were successfully addressed through cross-sector collaboration.
Moving forward, KALISTA hopes the #BerbagiUntukSemua initiative can become a sustainable platform that strengthens collaboration between government, industry, and communities in accelerating the adoption of electric public transportation across cities in Indonesia.
