KALISTA and Nusatama Synergy Supports Toyota Tsusho Indonesia in Advancing the Sustainable Transition of National Logistics Through an EV Container Truck Trial

Press Release

Cikarang, February 23, 2026 – The transition toward low-carbon logistics has entered a new phase. KALISTA, a comprehensive commercial electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem provider, supported by Nusatama, has partnered with Toyota Tsusho Indonesia in a strategic collaboration to initiate a Heavy-Duty Electric Vehicle (EV) trial for Toyota Tsusho Indonesia’s operations. The vehicle will be operated by one of Toyota Tsusho Indonesia’s logistics forwarding partners, Ray Cargo. The trial was officially launched on Monday (February 23) at the Toyota Tsusho Logistic Center in Cikarang by Albert Aulia Ilyas, President Director of KALISTA; Aldriani Meliala, Director of Toyota Tsusho Indonesia; Bambang Susilo, President Director of Nusatama; Ertanto Hendro, President Director of Ray Cargo; and Yoga Adiwinarto, Director of Business Development at KALISTA.

The trial, which will run for approximately three weeks starting on February 23, 2026, aims not only to assess the technical performance of the vehicle but also to validate the operational readiness of electric logistics solutions along the distribution route from Tanjung Priok Port to the Toyota Tsusho Logistic Center in Cikarang. This route supports the movement of both export and import goods with varying cargo capacities. Throughout the trial period, KALISTA and Toyota Tsusho Indonesia will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the EV container truck, focusing on energy efficiency and its contribution to decarbonization efforts. The assessment will include operational parameters such as driving range, payload capacity, driver behavior, and charging efficiency; vehicle performance indicators including energy consumption, cost efficiency, technical reliability, and maintenance support; as well as environmental parameters such as carbon emission reductions.

Decarbonization Initiatives and Sustainable Business Practices

In line with Toyota Tsusho Indonesia’s mission to leave a better planet for future generations, this initiative reinforces the company’s commitment to climate action by reducing carbon intensity through the adoption of more environmentally friendly and sustainable logistics vehicles.

Aldriani Meliala, Director of Toyota Tsusho Indonesia, stated: “This trial marks a concrete step together with KALISTA to demonstrate that EV container trucks can be effectively implemented in daily logistics operations, while also encouraging innovation and broader participation across the logistics sector in building a more sustainable future and reducing Scope 3 emissions. Beyond promoting engagement within the logistics sector, we are also implementing various initiatives to support our sustainability commitments. One of these is the utilization of International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-REC) as part of our corporate strategy to support clean energy claims and emission reductions.”

Albert Aulia Ilyas, President Director of KALISTA, added: “We welcome this collaboration as a strategic step toward accelerating the implementation of EV container trucks in the logistics sector. This initiative also marks an important milestone for KALISTA to grow alongside Indonesia’s logistics industry players, particularly in the freight and logistics segment. The trial program is one of the end-to-end solutions we provide, enabling customers to conduct a comprehensive assessment of EV implementation on real operational routes.”

The vehicle used in this trial is the Beiben V3 Tractor Head 6×4, equipped with a 423 kWh battery pack, offering a driving range of up to 200 kilometers at 80% utilization and a payload capacity of up to 100 tons. The unit is provided through KALISTA’s collaboration with Nusatama, a distributor specializing in vehicles for heavy industries.

During the trial, the EV container truck will perform one charging session between trips at Nusatama’s 320 kW DC fast-charging facility, located at the company’s depot in Narogong.

Bambang Susilo, President Director of Nusatama, stated: “Through our collaboration with KALISTA, we reaffirm our commitment to accelerating the transition to commercial electric vehicles by developing a comprehensive EV ecosystem, supported by reliable EV container truck specifications and proven operational readiness.”

The trial will also be supported by an operational performance monitoring system. The vehicle will be integrated with K-Move, KALISTA’s IoT-based monitoring platform, enabling real-time tracking and analytics to support continuous improvements in Toyota Tsusho Indonesia’s operational efficiency.

This strategic partnership underscores the shared commitment of KALISTA, Nusatama, and Toyota Tsusho Indonesia to accelerate the adoption of commercial electric vehicles in Indonesia while contributing to the country’s Net Zero Emissions 2060 target through efficient and comprehensive green logistics solutions. Through this initiative, the partners are not only testing electric vehicles but also laying the foundation for a scalable low-carbon logistics model that can be replicated nationwide as part of Indonesia’s logistics industry transformation.
