Sumber Alam x KALISTA Collaboration: Proving Electric Buses Aren’t Just for Short Trips!

Press Release

Jakarta, May 2, 2025 – KALISTA announced its collaboration with Sumber Alam during PEVS 2025, at a KALISTA talk show themed #BuktikanBisa (Prove It’s Possible) with KALISTA: Jakarta – Yogyakarta by electric bus. This collaboration is a joint initiative to strengthen sustainable public transportation in Indonesia.

Hardiansyah Pratama, Senior Business Consultant Manager at KALISTA, explained, “KALISTA is a fleet-as-a-service company that aims to prove electric buses are feasible and capable of supporting long-distance travel, particularly for Interprovincial Intercity (AKAP) routes.”

KALISTA plays a key role in preparing a detailed plan for the collaboration. One of the most critical aspects is charging strategy to ensure smooth operations, as the Jakarta – Yogyakarta route will be the farthest ever covered in an electric bus trial in Indonesia. The trial is scheduled to run for 30 days, from mid-May to June.

Anthony Steven Hambali, President Director of Sumber Alam, said, “KALISTA comes in offering a complete ecosystem, including infrastructure. If the ecosystem is ready and both parties can support one another, why not start? KALISTA’s planning is thorough, which gives us the confidence to prove and collaborate that electric buses can also be used for long-distance routes.”

KALISTA will conduct a comprehensive survey of the chosen route to ensure that the charging process does not disrupt current operations. The Yogyakarta-bound buses will recharge in Cikamurang, while the Jakarta-bound buses will recharge in Ajibarang. Charging is designed not to exceed one hour and will coincide with rest breaks, ensuring that passenger comfort and travel schedules are not disrupted. The charging stations (SPKLU) to be installed will range from 200 kWh to 50 kWh in capacity.

Additionally, KALISTA is placing strong emphasis on the human resources aspect, including driver education on efficient electric bus driving techniques. During the trial period, KALISTA will assign a dedicated team to ensure smooth execution of the trial.

During the talk show, Mohammad Wahyudi, representing the BisMania community, shared that, “The enthusiasm from BisMania and the public is very high, especially since Yogyakarta is a student city.” Yudi also expressed hope that electric buses will be as comfortable as conventional buses, and that innovation in electric buses for AKAP routes will continue to grow, contributing to a cleaner Indonesia.

Official information regarding bus stops, departure times, and fares will be announced through KALISTA and Sumber Alam’s social media channels.
