The Jambi City Government Collaborates with KALISTA to Launch a Free Electric Bus Trial on the Rawasari Terminal to Alam Barajo Terminal
Jambi, May 28, 2025 – PT Kalista Nusa Armada (KALISTA), a comprehensive electric vehicle ecosystem provider in Indonesia, through its subsidiary PT Kalista Soter Hastia, is collaborating with the Jambi City Government to officially launch the trial run of two medium-sized electric buses on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 (28/05) at Rawasari Terminal, Jambi City.
The launch ceremony of this trial was officiated and attended by Minister of Villages, Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration Yandri Susanto; Governor of Jambi Province Dr. H. Al Haris, S.Sos., M.H.; Mayor of Jambi Dr. dr. H. Maulana, MKM; Deputy Mayor of Jambi Diza Hazra Alijosha, S.E., M.A; Head of Jambi City Transportation Agency M. Saleh Ridha, S.Stp, ME; and KALISTA CEO Albert Aulia Ilyas.
Following the MoU previously signed by the Jambi City Government on May 19 (19/05), this trial will run for three months from May 28, 2025, to August 27, 2025. As previously stated by Jambi Mayor Dr. dr. H. Maulana, MKM, “The Jambi City Government is collaborating with KALISTA as a comprehensive EV ecosystem provider to introduce electric-based public transportation as an eco-friendly solution. This is a foundational step toward the future of Jambi’s transportation—delivering clean, comfortable, and modern public transport to encourage the public to switch from private vehicles, which continue to increase in number each year.”
Based on the request from the Jambi City Government and the survey conducted by the KALISTA team in February, the trial will use two medium-sized electric buses from the SAG brand, sized 6 meters and 7 meters, with seating capacities of 23 and 27 passengers respectively. The 6-meter bus is equipped with a 90.24 kWh battery, offering a range of up to 122 km per charge with a 55-minute charging time. Meanwhile, the 7-meter bus has a 127.7 kWh battery, a range of up to 105 km, and an 80-minute charging time using a 100 kW fast charger.
KALISTA CEO Albert Aulia Ilyas stated, “KALISTA is working with the Jambi City Government to accelerate EV adoption in public transportation. As an initial step in this transition, the city of Jambi will conduct a trial using two medium-sized electric buses. To ensure smooth operations, KALISTA has installed a 120 kW charging infrastructure at Rawasari Terminal. In addition, dedicated personnel and technicians will be stationed in Jambi throughout the trial period for unit monitoring and routine maintenance.”
These electric buses are part of Trans Bahagia, a public transport system initiated by the Jambi City Government to provide safe, comfortable, and environmentally friendly transport for the people of Jambi.
The two electric buses will serve the Rawasari Terminal – Alam Barajo Terminal route via Simpang Kawat and Jamtos, and vice versa, covering a distance of 12 km with a 40-minute travel time per trip. The fare during the trial period is Rp 0,- (free of charge). Each bus is scheduled to travel up to 154 km daily. During the trial, the Jambi City Government and KALISTA will evaluate operational efficiency using several parameters, including energy efficiency ratio, average daily mileage, cost-efficiency compared to conventional vehicles, and passenger numbers—all of which will form the basis for long-term operational planning.
Through this trial, KALISTA and the Jambi City Government reaffirm their joint commitment to driving the transformation of transportation toward an eco-friendly and sustainable future.
