Textile Industry Begins Adopting Electric Trucks, Achieves 40% Fuel Cost Savings Amid Energy Uncertainty

Press Release

Tangerang, April 2nd, 2026 – Global geopolitical tensions affecting fuel supply and oil prices are beginning to impact Indonesia’s logistics sector, which relies heavily on high-volume distribution. This situation has encouraged industry players to transition toward more efficient and sustainable solutions. One such initiative has been undertaken by PT Primarajuli Sukses (PRS), a subsidiary of PT Ever Shine Tex Tbk (ESTI), which has started implementing electric vehicles (EVs) for its distribution operations. The implementation is facilitated by KALISTA, a provider of comprehensive commercial EV ecosystem solutions.

Transition Toward Low-Emission Logistics

This initiative is part of Ever Shine Group’s efforts to improve energy efficiency while supporting Indonesia’s national target of achieving net zero emissions by 2060. To date, approximately 70% of the company’s energy needs will be supplied through renewable energy sources, including a 1.34 MWp solar power plant and a 1 MW gas-based power plant already installed, along with Phase 2 of the solar power project with a capacity of 2.1 MWp scheduled to begin operations in July 2026.

In this implementation, PRS utilizes KALISTA’s fleet-as-a-service scheme through an operating lease model, enabling the company to transition without upfront investment in vehicle assets. Vehicle ownership remains under KALISTA, making the company fully responsible for all operational risks and responsibilities, including maintenance, after-sales services, feature management, and IoT integration, supported by the vehicle brand. This allows PRS to focus more on logistics operations and product distribution to customers. This initiative marks the first implementation of EVs within Indonesia’s textile sector, setting a new benchmark for other textile companies looking to begin their EV transition.

Michael Sung, Director of Ever Shine Group, stated, “We are responding to the challenge of fuel scarcity by taking strategic steps to begin adopting EVs for our operational vehicles. Six electric trucks will be used to distribute products within Jakarta and Bandung to our end customers such as Uniqlo, Atalon, Shopee, Gojek, Grab, Torch, and Eiger. Previously, we conducted operational trials with KALISTA using two truck models, and the results were highly positive. We recorded fuel cost savings of up to 40%. In addition, to support the broader development of EV-based mobility, we are also introducing one electric minibus for employee shuttle services, which can also be optimized for cargo delivery when not in use.”

The selection of electric trucks was based on a comprehensive operational survey conducted by KALISTA to ensure optimal performance for PRS’s logistics activities. As a comprehensive EV ecosystem provider, KALISTA also designed the charging strategy, including charger infrastructure development and utilization of KALISTA’s public charging stations (SPKLU) along the Jakarta–Bandung operational route. KALISTA additionally facilitated operational trials, allowing PRS to objectively evaluate vehicle performance under real operating conditions.

As part of the implementation, KALISTA integrated the entire fleet into its Fleet Management System (FMS), the K-Move Dashboard, enabling real-time operational monitoring and comprehensive visibility into vehicle usage patterns.

Yoga Adiwinarto, Director of Business Development at KALISTA, added, “Our collaboration with PRS reflects KALISTA’s commitment to delivering efficient, practical, and sustainable logistics mobility solutions amid fuel supply uncertainties. Beyond energy efficiency, EVs also help reduce emissions and overall operational costs. Operational trials under real conditions demonstrated monthly operational cost savings of up to 27%. With these positive results, we also encourage other logistics companies to begin transitioning to EVs with KALISTA through our integrated ecosystem support, from planning to daily operations.”

Reducing Fuel Costs by Up to 40% Amid Fuel Supply Volatility

The fleet used for PRS logistics operations consists of four Foton E-Miller units with 81.14 kWh battery capacity and payload capability of up to 4 tons, along with two Foton E-Aumark units featuring 63.75 kWh batteries and payload capacity of up to 2.5 tons. Trial results showed that both vehicle models could travel up to 200 km on a single charge.

On the Tangerang–Bandung route, charging is conducted during driver rest periods, ensuring no disruption to operations, with charging duration averaging around 40 minutes (from 20% to 80% battery capacity). Before beginning operations, the fleet conducts its initial charging at the PRS charging station located within the PRS manufacturing facility in Tigaraksa.

Overall, the operational trial results demonstrated strong performance. Energy cost savings reached 40% per month, emissions were reduced by 30%, and total operational cost efficiency reached up to 27% per month.

Replication Potential Across Industries

The use of electric vehicles in textile logistics distribution is considered a potential reference model for other industrial sectors with similar distribution requirements. Although still in the early stages of implementation, trial results indicate significant opportunities for both operational efficiency and long-term emissions reduction.

As pressure on energy costs and sustainability demands continue to rise, approaches like this are expected to see broader adoption across Indonesia’s logistics industry.
