Jakarta, 29 April 2025 – In March 2025, PT Kalista Soter Hastia (KALISTA) has recorded a strategic step in conducting the first ever intercity and interprovince (AKAP) trial with PT Efisiensi Putra Utama (Efisiensi), which serves Cilacap – Yogyakarta route for a period of one month, starting from March 12 to April 12, 2025

Results of the first ever AKAP route trial in Indonesia

Alongside KALISTA, a comprehensive EV ecosystem provider, Efisiensi has completed the first AKAP trial in Indonesia. It has gain massive enthusiasm from the public, especially residence of CIlacap and Yogyakarta, which is reflected in the total number of passengers reaching 908 people. The unit used in the trial is a 12-meter coach bus unit with a battery capacity of 303 kWh and a passenger capacity of 41, and a 5-meter van unit with a battery capacity of 70 kWh and a passenger capacity of 15.

The trial results showed quite significant savings of energy savings of up to 67% for a single trip and a reduction in CO₂ emissions of 33%. The 12-meter coach unit has an average daily mileage of 318 km with energy cost savings of up to 77% and a reduction in CO₂ emissions of 28%. Meanwhile, the 5-meter van unit has an average daily driving range of 298 km with energy cost savings of up to 57% and a reduction of 65% for CO₂ emissions.

In this trial, KALISTA presents a comprehensive EV ecosystem solution. The process begins with an in- depth survey that takes into account various operational aspects, such as route selection, road conditions, type of unit used, trip duration, average speed and others related to the operational scheme. KALISTA also ensures infrastructure readiness by installing on charging station unit with a capacity of 200 kWh at CIlacap Efisiensi pool to ensure a smooth operation during the trial.

Opening a New Page in the History of Indonesian Transportation

After completing the Cilacap – Yogyakarta route, KALISTA is planning to make another breakthrough by operating Electric Buses on longer routes, Jakarta – Yogyakarta with a distance of more than 500 km for one trip with one the bus operators in Central Java.

Livery Design Competition for Electric Bus with the Longest Route

To increase the public enthusiasm, KALISTA collaborates with the biggest bus community BISMANIA to hold a livery design competition inviting public participation from the 20th until the 30th of April 2025. The winner of the competition will get the opportunity to showcase its work on the upcoming electric bus trial that will be operating on the longest route. Both the winner and more details regarding the implementation of the trials including units, stopping points, and infrastructure readiness will be officially announced together at the BISMANIA Jambore National in Madiun City.

This collaboration is expected to demonstrate KALISTA’s commitment to encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles in the public transportation sector. In addition, this initative also aims to inspire other intercity operators (AKAP, AKDP, and Tourism) to start the journey of transitioning to electric buses as a long-distance travel fleet smoothly, together with KALISTA, in order to build a sustainable mobility ecosystem in Indonesia.
